Proof of ownership

You can either register your files with us (up to 4Mo) or use our secure digital fingerprint solution (see note 2).

A single Copyright registration may contain an unlimited number of designs or documents of unlimited size if you use the digital fingerprint technique. Registration of files is limited to 4 MB.

Registered files and certificates will be kept in the strictest confidence.

Where is it valid?

In the member countries of the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works, the protection of intellectual work is automatically acquired by the mere fact of its existence. However, case law has demonstrated that in the case of a dispute regarding the ownership of an intellectual work, the author must provide a proof of anteriority. My©Box gives any person or entity who has previously deposited files, documents, or designs, a proof of the copyright existence at the time and date of the deposit, for use in justice in the 166 member countries of the Berne Convention.

How does it work?

Our prices reflect a single payment and we will not charge any subsequent subscription or apply any hidden periodic fees. You will receive your registration certificate in English free of charge after the validation of your deposit.

*Legal assistance service: in case of dispute, we offer a free analysis of your case, PLUS we send a formal cease and desist letter free of charge. Terms and conditions apply.

Notes

1. For more information about trusted time-stamping, Wikipedia has an informative article. The following extract is of particular relevance.

A modern example is the case of an industrial research organization that may later need to prove, for patent purposes, that they made a particular discovery on a particular date; since magnetic media can be altered easily, this may be a nontrivial issue. One possible solution is for a researcher to compute and record in a hardcopy laboratory notebook a cryptographic hash of the relevant data file. In the future, should there be a need to prove the version of this file retrieved from a backup tape has not been altered, the hash function could be recomputed and compared with the hash value recorded in that paper notebook.

quoteYour copyright deposit is remitted to a public ministerial officer (Notary). An electronic timestamp is applied to the deposit, which constitutes a strong proof of anteriority.

What is a copyright deposit with a public ministerial officer?

In France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Quebec, a public ministerial officer holds the right to serve and execute court judgements, as well as other enforceable court decisions. He is responsible for serving court summons and authenticating the persons to whom he remits the summons. His duties include policing court hearings and enforcing court decisions. He also conducts activities such as report evidence and evidence collection, especially in the field of counterfeiting, trademark and patent infringement.
